The Mentor Program

The NPPE Mentor in Fine Art Photography Program is for working professionals or experienced visual artists who wish to create marketable images through thematics for the exhibition, collection, and the fine art illustration market. This program follows the classic tradition of learning arts from others developed by painters during the Renaissance and as practiced by the art photography workshop community. One-on-one mentor training encourages the mentor-student to create an expressive, subjective point of view, individual style, and create art photography that is a Vision Beyond Documentation. Student growth and evaluation utilize MFA principles as developed with our education partner/managers. The NPPE Mentor program is an innovative low-residency curriculum that combines online learning with immersive experiences.

You will create several thematic portfolios in close coordination with your mentor instructor and a community of artists. The program features in-depth online tutoring, three consecutive portfolio capture periods (approx. four-six weeks each), and an innovative NPPE studio mentor program. You will pursue advanced art structure and fine art printing with hands-on training and state of the art equipment. Final modules prepare the student to enter the fine art photography market. Students enroll in 2-3 external professional, thematic portfolio reviews with selected gallery operators, academics, publishers, and creative managers.

Prerequisites— To enroll in the Mentor Program, students must have completed at least two NPPE Masterclasses or one NPPE First Horizon and one NPPE Masterclass with a minimum of ten Adobe postproduction hours training with an NPPE instructor. Final Acceptance into the Mentor program is at the discretion of the Mentor. 

Time to Completion— 12- 16 months

Tuition and Fees 

$8,850 payable over six months or $7,900 if paid in full at program start.  

Other expenses— 

Textbooks— approximately $200.00 

Portfolio Review enrollment fees— approximately $600.00 

 Travel and lodging, local capture expenses, software and equipment expenses— $900 to $ 1500.
