Look up and create as you explore the tallest trees on earth with the Redwood State (Jedi Smith) and National Park Masterclass. But there is more— learn the art of landscape art photography as you capture California’s North Coast atmospherics among the vast prairies, oak woodlands, wild rivers, and 40 miles of rugged coastline. Seven percent of all the old-growth redwoods left in the world can be found here but no roads or trails mark “Jed Smith’s” core—just pure, primeval majesty.
Redwood National Park is home to the tallest trees on Earth, but it is also a generator of creative landscape ideas and expressive notions, and so mesmerizing to visiting photographers that it unlocks unique landscape art sensibilities. Northern California Coast atmospherics create watery shadows, dapple sunlight among feathery branches, and heart-stopping light streaks that encourage photographers to capture an emotional range that is like no other park.
While the towering Redwoods will make us rethink vertical compositions, there is more. Vast prairies, gnarly oak woodlands, wild rivers, and a rugged coastline that snaps with white waves and jagged sea stacks are on the Masterclass schedule too. People have lived in this verdant landscape since time immemorial, and in this Masterclass, we will capture and produce images from these lands of secluded inspiration.
The Redwood National Park Masterclass Photography Workshop is a 5-day full immersion program that teaches a capture to post-production workflow to create fine art landscape photography. We are not a photography tour provider; we are a visual arts, photography education program. Thus, you will spend significant time at each location with your instructor to develop a deep understanding of your subject and theme and learn to complete your vision in post-production.
