National Park Service Artist-in-Residence
“I founded National Park Photographic Expeditions (NPPE) because of my life long dedication to the art of landscape photography and to the preservation of our public lands. I can think of no better classroom than a national park for mastering the landscape genre, and no better method of learning to develop a unique visual voice then working with me and our artist instructors to develop a unique visual voice— your own.”
Killen is one of the most highly rated, and sought after, Adobe and Fine Art Photography instructors in America. Bob combines his backgrounds in commercial photography, content development, and marketing processes, with state-of-the-art digital technology to create thematic images that explore western Americana with a vision that is beyond record. His principal work is to connect viewers to the desert landscape and a call for significant creative interaction with our obsession to abandon structures, places, and things across a shared American landscape. His work is owned by collectors in 20 countries.
Bob Killen is the President of the Mojave National Preserve Artists Foundation, a National Park Service Friends Group, Managing Partner of NPPE, and President of Bob Killen Fine Arts. Killen teaches composition, art photography, and advanced post-production arts in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop at the California Center for Digital Arts in Santa Ana, CA.
